Freaky Dreams

by Laura on August 25, 2010

I woke up this morning after a night of deep sleep filled with freaky dreams. I tried to analyse what they may mean – I believe you should analyse your own dreams as I think its the connections / relationships you have with people or things that is the key to their deeper meaning. What I came up with was interesting – I think I’m probably being affected by a personal situation more than I may realise and it is therefore making itself known through my dreams! Do you ever try and analyse your dreams?

I know I say this all the time but this breakie was super! I made up a big bowl of chia seed oats (scottish oats, water half a tablespoon of chia seeds) and then crushed some strawberries with a fork until they became all jam like. I stirred this into the porridge then added some peanut butter sauce (2 teaspoons of smooth peanut butter mixed with warm milk), a couple of sliced strawberries and a teaspoon of black cherry jam.

This tasted amazingly good! I love how peanut butter sauce makes the peanut butter go further and fill the bowl with its flavour, mmm!

Mid morning I snacked on some fromage frais topped with some whole almonds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

Lunch was a bowl of Lentil and Spinach soup from my frozen stash – I must make more as this soup is perfect for chilly autumn days.

I also had three little greenages.

This was my first time trying these – they tasted just like sweet plums!

Before I left work for the gym I had a Berry Cheeky Nakd Bar.

I decided to do my run on the treadmill at the gym so I could do some speed work. I did:

0.0 – 0.5 miles – 6 mph

0.5 – 1 miles – 6.5 mph

1 – 1.5 miles – 7 mph

1.5 – 2 miles – 6.5 mph with 30 sec sprints to 7.5 mph

x 2

After I’d done those 4 miles (36.30) I came home and did Yoga for Runners for 20 minutes. If your interested in trying out some yoga for free you should really check out the yoga download site it has a great selection of free sessions – you listen to the audio and print out a pdf pose guide to help you through. I really enjoy my little yoga sessions!

Dinner was a big salad containing: little gem lettuce, spinach, cucumber, beetroot, red onion, orange pepper, carrot, basil tofu and extra chopped basil.

I love this basil tofu, its texture and taste kind of reminds me of sausages for some reason! For desert I mixed a chopped apple with fresh blueberries, cinnamon and this new oat milk:

I thought I’d give the oat milk a try. Its quite a watery consistency but tasted ok. I was still a little peckish so I had this jazz apple too.

Have you tired oat milk? What did you think?

I have a few things to catch up with tonight, I can’t believe its Wednesday already! I’m also very excited as I have just received an extra special delivery and I’m expecting a few more over the next few days – watch this space!

I’m looking forward to seeing what your deliveries were! I love oat milk myself, but it is a bit watery. So is rice milk. They taste good though.

I used to analyse my dreams, now my dreams are pretty run of the mill as I typically wake up naturally at the end of my sleep cycles. One of my modules at Uni was on Freud’s dream theory, it is pretty interesting!

I haven’t tried oat milk, I like soya milk and have read that it helps regulate hormones so I just stick with that usually. Are there an particular benefits to oat milk?

BTW- jam and omelette? Are you crazy??? That gave me a total giggle! x

I don’t try to analyze my dreams, but I do know when I have anxiety dreams…classic panic about missing some school test (all these years later)or missing a race start.

I tried oat milk for the first time a few weeks ago, got some from whole foods. I agree, the texture is a bit watery but I liked the sweet taste

Never tried oat milk. I tried rice milk for the 1st time 2 weeks ago (I liked it). Next step is soya milk. It’s in the fridge (for next week I think) so maybe oat milk will be next.
I love greengages. They are so nice. When I eat them, I know it’s summer…well nearly :-(

Oh, as you know, Ive just taken up running…I love it. But I only run on the treadmill for now and I was wondering how I was regarding my speed. So, on average you run 6.5mph, which is about 10km/h…I think you’re quite fast! I do something like 5mph…but well, ive just started.
Also, I was wondering…how long did it take you from basically your 1st run to your half marathon on Saturday! Im really amazed by that!

I have never tried oat milk. Almond milk and I are in a pretty good groove right now!

I mostly use oat milk, sometimes coconut. Like you, I don’t like the taste of cows milk. It doesn’t pack that great a nutritional punch, but then I prefer the taste to water on my cereal and in smoothies and so on. In terms of price / taste, it’s the best milk substitute I’ve found (bar soya, which I can’t drink)

Neen – these deliveries are fab, I can’t wait to share on the blog!

Tam – you can get the chocolate version but after I had a binging session with chocolate rice milk I decided to give it a miss!

Stacey – I think I prefer the flavoured rice milks like the vanilla and hazelnut and almond. Soy is still my fave I think!

Jo – I bet Freuds dream theory was very interesting! I think the only reason I remembered these dreams was cause I kept waking up in the middle of sleep cycles for the loo! I actually have a cheesey jammy omelette craving now! I don’t think theres any more health benefits with the oat milk over rice milk for example – I think it may be better for your colesterol and digestion than some others.

miss zippy – I used to have reoccuring dreams of being late for things too, I hate them I always feel so awful after them!

Becky – I like the sweet taste too – I think I’ll but some every now and again, I like a bit of variety!

Helene – I think the thing with speed is its all relative, I try not to compare my speed with other people, as long as I’m improving for me then I’m happy! I first started running back in jan / feb time. I got up to 11 miles in may then injured my knee and had to have a months break. I’ve slowly built back up to the 11 and now 13. I can’t believe I’ve done it but it just goes to show that anyone can! You just slowly increase your distance as well as working on your overall fitness x

Madeline – unfortunately almond milk isn’t that widely available in the UK and when I do see it is very expensive but I think I’ll be trying it out just so I can have a taste!

Alison – I like the coconut as well, really tasty. Other than soya, oat seems to be more widely available in supermarkets as far as I can see too.

I’m not a huge fan of standard oatly but I LOVE chocolate oatly, it’s really nice, Mike likes it straight out of the fridge but I like it warmed up

Have only tried chocolate oat milk and didn’t find it watery at all! Mostly use non-dairy milks in porridge or smoothies but the chocolate oat milk was good on it’s own :)

I guess it would all be all down to the fab herby-blend in the tofu that’s reminiscent of bangers!

Jumbo oats and water is surprisingly-tasty on it’s own so makes a good alternative to Cow’s juice:)

I do believe our dreams tell us alot about us:)

BTW That oat and chia combo sounds like a great ENERGY brekkie for EVERYONE(Kids, seniors and athletes alike:)Nice one, Laura!
