A few weeks ago I was kindly sent a selection of products from Cosy Teas:

CIMG0770

Cosy Teas are all certified organic and fair trade with the products also being approved by the Vegetarian Society, Viva Vegan, The Organic Trust and the Fair Trade Foundation. Each box of tea includes 20 individually wrapped non bleached tea bags.

I tried the following flavours:

  • Breakfast
  • Earl Grey
  • Rooibos with Vanilla
  • Chamomile
  • Lemon Green
  • Jasmine Green
  • Peppermint
  • Blueberry

All of the teas tasted lovely and brewed up a lovely cuppa – either made in a mug or in a tea pot. The main stand out varieties for me were the Chamomile and the Blueberry. Although the other flavours were good, I didn’t feel that there was anything in particular about them that made them better than any other similar tea I have tried, unless of course you take into consideration that they are organic and fair trade.

The Chamomile and Blueberry were delicious though! The Chamomile reminded me of cream soda (nom!) and the blueberry has a lovely fruity taste that was superior to other fruity teas I have tried:

CIMG1035

I also really liked the packaging of the teas. The print is lovely and the boxes are designed so that you can pull an individual tea bag from the bottom of the box without opening and closing it.

A box of Cosy Tea retails at £1.99 for 20 bags from Cream Supplies which I don’t think is a bad price considering that they are organic and fair trade. These do seem to be a little difficult to get hold of – hopefully more retailers will start to stock them as well as the website stated above.

I would definitely look to purchase the Chamomile and Blueberry varieties again as they taste really lovely!

Have you heard of Cosy Tea before? Which variety sounds the nicest to you? Is organic and fair trade something you look for when deciding to purchase tea?

I have never tried or heard of Cosy Tea, though I did know about the famous Teapigs tea, as featured on your blog and Maria’s. I wish I could find it though!

Blueberry definitely sounds like the most appealing variety to me, as I’ve been addicted to fresh blueberries of late.

I buy Clipper organic fairtrade decaf tea to drink usually, and those qualities are important to me. I just wish they didn’t affect the price so much though!

Great review as always.

I have actually never heard of them. I usually just buy supermarket own brand, or anything that’s on offer!

To be honest, no, I don’t look for fairtrade and organic when I’m buying food. Perhaps if I had more money I would but I usually buy whatever is best value. If the best value one is fairtrade or organic then that’s a bonus. (I do make an exception for eggs and try to buy free range all the time). The blueberry one sounds lush!

I will be looking out for some Cosy tea – not seen any yet…. I always get excited about new brands (and types) of tea, partly due to my love of tea and partly due to the fact that I have the lamest hobby – I collect tea-tags. Yup, since 2007. I get ridiculously excited by those little bits of paper or card that dangle off the piece of string. Have set my sights on a Cosy Tea bag tag now to add to my collection. Need to get out more? Quite possibly!

I haven’t seen Cosy Tea in Canada. Their packaging looks great though…like an actual knitted tea cosy!

I’ve not seen these teas before, but as a tea lover I’m always on the lookout for something new. The blueberry one sounds really nice and a bit different.

I always read your blog but I think this is my first time commenting. I live in the US and work at Teavana- a loose leaf tea company whilst going to school for nutrition. Teavana is very into nutrition, all organic, and goes through equitrade, which is very similar to fare trade. Being loose leaf, it is more expensive, however you get a lot more taste/health benefits. Since you seem to really be into tea, you should check it out. I think it would really interest you :)

And I realize my comment looks to be a huge advertisement, but I didn’t mean for it to come off that way! I’m only working there to put myself through school, but I genuinely feel that you will appreciate the company :)

Rooibos with vanilla sounds like my kind of thing! I really like rooibos on a cold day in place of black tea which I often find too strong.

I’ve never seen these in the shops but will look out for them, I love the cosy name!

I’m not a tea person (err… hello coffee!) but these do look delicious – especially the blueberry flavour! Maybe I will order some and give them a go!

I love your tea pot! I have never heard of Cosy Tea (maybe it isn’t available in the states?), but I love starting my day with a big pot full of tea!

Jessica – I think you would love the blueberry its very fruity!

Tam – I think they’d be right up your street!

Stacy – Glad you’ve now heard of them here!

ursus – I think thats such a cool thing to collect! I can imagine all the little designs being different and so pretty!

Jemma – yes after the rooibos is lovely too!

Meggie – I know its so cute, wish I could knit!

Seletha – I’m sure you’ve commented before and I had a look and they were amazing but I wasn’t sure if you shipped to the UK? Can you let me know if you do cause I would love to try some of those amazing flavours!

Becky – I really love rooibos tea too!

Flo – haha, I’m a tea and a coffee person!

I am a tea obsessed fiend, but I can’t say I’v seen these cosy teas! One of my favourite teas is peppermint, so I’d probably get that one to see how it compares to the rest. Your description if the camomile sounds lovely, and so I would get that one too! I’m not a huge fruity tea fan, but love blueberries, and so I’m really intrigued as to whether or not I’d like the blueberry flavour!
