Today is KHGS 3rd Birthday! Yes I have been blogging for 3 whole years, I can’t quite believe what a crazy journey I’ve been on. Thank you all for being on it with me, as always it means a heck of a lot that you guys take the time to read my ramblings :-) Another big thanks for those of you that read and commented on my happy weight post, I really enjoyed reading your comments and will be responding to them soon. As a few of you commented I have definitely been on a very circular journey, I think my eating style is pretty much back to what it was just before I started blogging! But as I reflect on this, I feel that the journey is something I’ve had to experience – and I know that it is going to make me a better health coach in the long run :-)

Today’s WIAW is from Monday, which as it turns out was not an average Monday at all…

WIAWbutton

I started my day with warm water and lemon, followed by a glass of water with apple cider vinegar and aloe vera juice added and then I made some coconut oil blended coffee:

Still loving these for before the gym! I did my amended LiveFit Days 8 and 9 workout with a little bit of cardio before and after as usual, then it was home for a smoothie!

This week am I doing the Alpro Deskfest to show how breakfasts on the go can be both healthy and delicious. For my first recipe I just had to make it a Green Smoothie of course!

Photo 14-01-2013 08 05 14

Super Mega Green Smoothie (serves 1 hungry person, vegan)

  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 1 cup of brewed and cooled green tea
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional) or try adding half a cup of Alpro vanilla pouring yoghurt
  • a few ice cubes
  • 1 cup of Alpro Original Soya Milk
  • Additional water to blend

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. This tastes, sweet, creamy and delicious. The green tea will give you a little lift, the banana some fuel and the avocado some healthy fats. The soya milk just adds to the creaminess! You can get involved in the Deskfest by tweeting pics of your Alpro breakie with the #deskfest hash tag and automatically be entered into a competition for a trip to NYC!

I would have usually drank that smoothie on the way to work and finished it at my desk but it was snowing so I went for a warm drink instead:

Photo 14-01-2013 08 43 43

I made up some Dandy Blend which I had purchased from iHerb. I have a review coming on this but I love the stuff! I added a dash of the soya milk and it kept me warm in the car. So did my trusty North Face jacket!

Lunch was some Boot Camp Soup which I’d made at the weekend along with some chopped veggies and quite a few un pictured Ryvita crackers (I keep a pack in my desk drawer for snacking):

Photo 14-01-2013 12 49 56

Then a little later I snacked on some cashews and macadamias before chatting to a health coach client on Skype:

Photo 14-01-2013 13 11 55

Then it was off home early for a rather random experience! I drank a can of Alibi Citrus when I got in:

Photo 13-01-2013 14 28 57

I’m doing the Alibi ‘pretox’ challenge this week so will report back! Anyway, back to the random evening, I had been contacted the previous week about my weight loss story appearing in a national newspaper. I had not expected them to send out a make up artist and photographer too!

PicMonkey Collage

The whole experience was rather bizarre but good fun! I just wish I had thought ahead as I ended up all dressed up with no where to go. I’ll report back when I know when and which paper the story is going to be in. I just hope the photos came out ok. I did pick up some good tips from the photographer on how to stand to make you look super slim!

After all of that I was really ready for dinner but was not so well prepared, however I ended up knocking out a really delicious meal:

Photo 14-01-2013 18 28 02

I had some leftover roast chicken so I fried it with some Thai red curry paste then added some home made chicken stock, courgette noodles, red pepper and soy sauce. The only thing that could have improved this would have been coconut milk but I’m all out! It was delicious.

Then it was time for my usual dessert:

Photo 14-01-2013 18 52 55

Frozen blueberries, greek yoghurt, soya milk, raw honey, hits the spot every time. Followed by a Cococardio hot chocolate with coconut sugar for sweetness:

Photo 14-01-2013 19 16 51

And that was my day, not quite a normal Monday but lots of fun!

Have you ever had a make over / photo shoot type experience? I enjoy getting my make up done but it always feels so ‘thick’ on my face! If you have a blog how long have you been writing it? I really can’t believe its been a whole 3 years!

How exciting that you’re going to be in a national! Can’t wait to see the piece. You look so beautiful all dressed up too :). I love your North Face coat too, mine is one of their jackets and is so cosy but I do wish it was a bit smarter/everyday! Lovely eats too, happy WIAW Laura!

Three whole years! I haven’t even made it to three weeks yet! You’re an inspiration. And congratulations on the newspaper article! I’ve never seen a U.S. paper send out a beauty team for an article… you must be extra special, unless everything’s just more glam in the U.K. :)

Have a wonderful day and here’s to many more years of happy blogging!

Happy Bloggy Birthday!! So amazing to see how much has changed/not changed and the journey you’ve been on. Like you said – it seems like you were meant to make this incredible journey in order to be doing a job that you really love, and something that you might not have thought of doing pre-weight loss. Amazing! You look so lovely in the photographs, that’s so exciting!!

Happy Blogiversary, 3 years is amazing! I’ve had a few photo shoots recently with wedding. It’s fab getting all glammed up, great for making you feel extra special.

It’s coming up on the 3 year mark for me too (May, I think…) Although I’ve actually been blogging for over 5 years in total in various guises (perhaps closer to 6…scary). Happy ‘anniversary!’

Never had a photoshoot personally – to be honest I wouldn’t want one because I hate looking at myself! Keep us posted on which paper you’re going to be in – I’ll have to pick up a copy :)

I will let you know but I think it might *shudder* be the Sun, not exactly the kind of paper I’d read but oh well! If it inspires someone in a positive way its all good. Hope you are coping ok with this snow :-(

Well done on blogging for three years! I’ve been blogging just over two now, time flies! My sister and I went for a makeover and photoshoot about two years ago, it was a freebie we got when joining the gym, and had just lost my first stone, it was lots of fun, but the pictures were ridiculously expensive! I’m addicted to blended coffee now (or just coffee in general!).

Glad I’m not the only one hooked on coffee! Have you tried the bulletproof one with actual butter? I don’t have the guts to try that version yet!

I had a photo shoot done at my home following me losing my weight through a weight loss website. It was an awesome experience. They sent me through some dresses that they wanted me to be photographed in – very French and in one of them I’m firmly hooked up with safety pins at the back as it was flapping around on top!

I’ve been blogging just over 2 years now and do it sporadically. I’m not nearly as dedicated as you are :) I do enjoy it though as I find that when I DO blog it really helps to keep me ”on the straight and narrow” as it were.

Happy Birthday to KHGS!! :) You look gorgeous!! Can’t wait to see you in the papers :) I actually had a similar experience a couple of months ago which is still to go out supposedly in The Sun Woman and New! magazine soon about my ED recovery and a photographer and make up artist came for that too. It was really nice to have my make up done differently and I learnt some great tips! :)

How glamorous! The only time I have my hair done is at the hairdressers- I have never had makeup put on me. LOoking forward to seeing it.
My blog is coming up to 3 years- I think I started it in April time. It’s so strange to think about that- I had no idea when I started it that anyone would even read it!

Happy bloggiversary! My main blog, Mithril Wisdom, turned three just before Christmas. My fitness blog is less than 6 months old, though. It’s still a baby :)

The boot camp soup looks really good. I want to try out new soup recipes; that looks like a good one to add to the list :)

Happy anniversary!! I think I’m at the one year anniversary of starting to read it ha ha.

Great pictures for the photo shoot – I had a photo session thing years ago just because our college was given an offer and I remember doing the same, not planning to go out that night!! I think it was when everything was done a bit ‘soft focus’ so we look back and chuckle at some of it, but it’s a lovely keep sake for my mum ;)

Didn’t know about the Alpro challenge, may have to start tomorrow with that smoothie you posted. I haven’t made smoothies with cooled tea so I’m looking forward to the varied taste. Haven’t got any spinach in right now, but might try kale…

Reply

Laura January 18, 2013 at 11:57 am

Haha I think a fair few of us have some of the soft focus ones with the feather boas too eh ;-) I think that would taste good with a bit of kale too, I like the slight taste you get from the tea ;-)

Happy 3rd Anniversary! What a fantastic milestone to reach… and what a journey this whole experience has take you on! It must have felt a bit strange having a glamorous photoshoot in your own flat but you look amazing nonetheless! I get really shy when it comes to photos or any kind of publicity. I normally run a mile :/ I’m the complete opposite of my hubbie who is fantastic at live tv & radio interviews, giving witty soundbites, etc. I just don’t have the knack for that sort of thing :(
