Hello guys, how you all doing? Hope your week has been a good one. Mine has been mixed, lots of great things (see Love List coming up) but I’ve also been feeling a bit flat at times. Maybe it’s just the incessant bloody snow that is everywhere right now. Its about a foot deep where I live but I have to say my little car is a trooper and only got stuck once!
On Monday James and I went to a gig…
One of James goals this year is to see a gig every month. January’s gig was Passenger at The Cluny. If you like folky rock with humour check him out! If you are feeling a bit angst ridden ‘I Hate’ is a great track.
I tried to try and dress nicely for the gig:
OOTD: scarf: Topshop, cardigan: Asda, patterned dress: Urban Outfitters, belt: Dorothy Perkins, crystal necklace: Monsoon, black riding boots: Dune
However I managed to slip on my backside while clearing the car. I should have worn my wellies! Food has been lovely this week, I’ve been fairly well prepared for meals and after a few weeks of going nut butter cold turkey I’ve felt ok to bring it back in without the urge to eat an entire tub in one sitting:
Coconut flour breakfast cake with tahini and apple, cranberry, orange and coconut smoothie, coconut flour muffins topped with greek yoghurt and almond butter, simple cauliflower soup with tahini, red pepper and coconut flour muffins, spinach with cucumber, salmon, olives and balsamic, sweet potato with almond butter and coconut milk, goats cheese and red onion omelette, salad with goats cheese and beetroot
I’ve also had a little stevia again, but I’ve found that the amounts I had been using where massively too sweet, and meals where I had once used it in, such as smoothies, are sweet enough without it. Oh and I also had an amazing burger with bacon and cheese before the gig, the lighting was bad so no pic but it was amazing!
The snow has had an impact on my workouts as I did not think it was worth trekking to the gym at 7am so I’ve been doing some home workouts instead:
- Saturday and Sunday – REST (apart from digging snow!)
- Monday – Kettle bell inspired home workout
- Tuesday – MTV Yoga DVD
- Wednesday – home strength workout – upper body
- Thursday – Yoga for runners podcast
- Friday – Gym workout – lower body strength + 15 minutes cardio
I’ve taken a week off the LiveFit trainer programme but I should be back on my amended version of it next week fingers crossed!
On the Love List this week….
I was sent this video by blog reader Joy and I love it! She knows me so well, feeling better about my daily blended coffee habit! Also…
There has been some amazing posts from bloggers this week which have really made me think – How Blogging Influences my Life from Katie and Facing Failing Health as a Vegan from Sayward, as well as the Purely Twins posts on their continuing journey to heal their gut. I have to admit I found Saywards tough reading for a lot of reasons, but her conviction is inspiring // full fat coconut milk // almond butter // coconut milk and almond butter together ;-) // this post from Gala about bloggers and our worth // my sister texting me the most adorable pictures of my Nephews // my utterly amazing health coaching clients, and feeling like I was born to do this // getting some of my personal finances sorted and the weight off my shoulders

Well there I was saying that I had felt a little flat, not any more! This is exactly the reason I write that weekly love list :-) What’s on your Love List this week? How do you cheer yourself up when you feel a little flat?

You look great for the gig Laura, wish I had mastered the art of looking stylish while wearing warm clothing but I mainly just look like the Michelin man!! So many pretty eats too, glad you’re back on the nut butter train, it is so hard to limit spoonfuls of it but well done for it!

Oh you should have seen me once I had my coat on top too!
Receiving the first draft of our wedding DVD has to be the highlight of my week. I love coconut milk and almond butter together, especially on a sweet potato, so yummy!

Oh how exciting! I bet that was lovely to watch :-)
Just listened to Passenger and love them! Thanks for the introduction! I hate those times when life just feels a bit flat but seems like you know the best way of dealing with it. I need to start making love lists :)

I love some of the comments on YouTube for that video. Nice video though…I do find that it brightens me up before exercise which is much need considering I lack in the motivation sector!
Nooo. I hope you didn’t hurt yourself when you slipped over!?
I go through phases of not eating nut butter at all. I just don’t fancy it so much any more but when I do, it’s so good! ;-)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Apart from getting wet I was ok, I have plenty of padding if you know what I mean ;-) Actually in all seriousness I think had I been thinner I would have hurt myself a lot more!
I think so many of us are coming to realise how some blogs just aren’t worth agonizing so much over…in my case it doesn’t stop me from doing it though. Personally I loved Sayward’s post and I’d like to e-mail it to all of the doctors and specialists I’ve seen with their whole ‘meat/dairy is the answer’ dogma…plus some bloggers (not you because you’re very tolerant of others’ lifestyles).
Running in this snow has been crap, honestly – I think everyone is feeling pretty flat with this bloody weather. I hope you’re okay after your fall! I’ve slipped a lot of times but not fallen…yet…probably jinxed myself now!
xxx
Oh I’m so glad you’ve mentioned that because I have to say I was seeing so many comments and getting rather paranoid about me eating meat and dairy again. But like you say I would like to think that I don’t push that across as the be all and end all, I just genuinely think its different things for different people, which might even change within their lives. I feel like I’m eating a lot of animal products right now, but I’m pretty sure that in the future I would go back to more of a plant based diet. I just need this bloody amenorrhoea sorted! I was ok after my fall, I have plenty of padding now ;-) Hope you stay safe!
I agree with Clare- I just look very roly poly when I load up the layers :)
Glad you had a good week. I think a chat to a friend, or some good music will make me feel better.

Yes definitely chatting to a friend is a good way to cheer up :-) My manager at work said that I looked like a bag lady hobo when I was all bundled up!
Attend more gigs was one of my New Year’s resolutions as well! And I, too, have been feelin’ a little flat this week. I do think it’s the weather/just falling out of my groove. It happens.
But there’s a lot to be grateful for :) Adore these “Love Lists”!
Hope you are feeling better now the weekend has arrived!
Oh thank you for sharing #shucks, am glad it made your list! Not so good the icy fall! My hubby ended up in A&E yesterday after a fall on ice on Thursday – hyperextended hamstring anyone? It’s usually me who falls over, now it’s warming up today hopefully that risk is gone….
Oh no hope he is ok! I think it is starting to melt thankfully. Yes I really did love that coffee video!
Thanks Laura, he will be sing crutches for a few days but otherwise will live to see another icy day!!I feel really bad as I just packed him off to work yesterday claiming pain relief and grit and determination will get him through (you can tell I’ve just done marathon, and won’t get anyone mixing me up with Florence Nightngale…). I was right about pain relief at least, but perhaps shouldn’t have brushed it off so much! :) the doctor was impressed though that he got through the morning on just pain relief gel and I’m impressed with his work mates for recognising that maybe a day at work wasn’t doing him any favours,,,,
Lovely outfit! You’re so so beautiful!
The food pictures look delicious!
