Can you remember those Refresher sweeties? They were sweet ‘fizzy’ tasting sweets and I loved them. This smoothie tastes like that. No joke.

Cranberry, Orange and Coconut Sherbet Smoothie (serves 1, vegan)

  • 200g of frozen cranberries (I used half a bag of frozen cranberries from Sainsburys)
  • 1 large orange, peeled
  • 1 cup of kara coconut milk (or 1/4 cup of full fat coconut milk and some water)
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I used sun warrior) or you could probably try vanilla yoghurt instead

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Drink and feel like a kid again!

I just love how naturally sweet this is, cranberries themselves can be quite tart, but the addition of the orange counteracts that, and along with the vanilla creates that tangy sherbet flavour.

Cranberries themselves are packed with nutrition and of course they are good for helping urinary tract infections. This smoothie is a great way to include them in your diet.

Do you like cranberries? What was your favourite sweets as a child?

I used to love Refreshers when I was kid! We had Love hearts as part of our sweetie buffet table at our wedding, which are similar. Love the idea of a sweet orientated smoothie.

This sounds so good! And I’ve been meaning to pick up a new protein powder, so thanks for the link to Sun Warrior. I’ll have to check it out.

I like cranberries in sauce form, if that counts? I love them dried too, but the fresh ones definitely take some getting used to. I’ve never thought of using them in a smoothie, but I love the idea of adding the orange and protein powder.

Yum sounds delish! I used to love those chewy beers or milk bottles, but never passed on the sherbet either!

Fizzy cola bottles were my favourite. This sounds amazing – I never usually buy frozen cranberries as I used to think they’d be too sour to use in smoothies. x

I didn’t like those sweets, but I loved the things in the tubes- I think they were called sherbert fountains or something? With a stick of licorice in the middle to lick and get the sherbet out. Sounds gross now, but I used to love them!
