Three cheers for the arrival of October! I realised I talked so much about my October Pledge yesterday that I forgot to express my love for the month that includes Halloween and that signals when we can officially wear knee high boots, tights and scarves without a slight sweatiness going on. Of course today is WIAW and these are my eats and goings on from yesterday.
I was up so early and couldn’t believe how pitch black it was. I was only slightly comforted by wrapping myself up in my new knitted coat, wrap around scarf, red vintage dress and brown boots all pictured above, and photographed much later in the day I might add! I decided I wanted to get an early start in the office, so took my breakfast to go.
This was exactly why I came up with my Berry Baked Oatmeal recipe – I had a slice of this in the freezer so had defrosted it in the fridge overnight and then warmed it up in the microwave at work. Mega tasty! I also had a posh coffee:
That french press mug courtesy of Chez Toi has been wonderful. It’s a nice treat to have proper ground ‘posh’ coffee at work instead of instant.
Mid morning I snacked on some pumpkin and yoghurt with cinnamon I’d brought along as a snack, with a dandy blend herbal coffee:
I was getting pretty hungry by 11.30 so ended up snacking on these delicious kale chips:
I have been sent these to review, it was handy they were in the office as they kept me going until lunch!
I’d made some of my carrot, ginger and orange soup at the weekend, so had some of that along with a bit of leftover roast chicken. I was surprisingly full after that!
By late afternoon I was ready for my next snack:
I love me a ginger nakd bar! Then I came home and had time to squeeze in a quick workout:
My living room with the rug pulled up and my iPad rested on my desk chair is the best yoga studio I’m going to get ;-) I did Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. I was yet again hungry after the workout so snacked on an apple and a pear:
After that I had a session with a fabulous Uniquely Healthy client, then made dinner:
I baked some wild caught salmon (my friends partner goes fishing and we get some of the most incredible tasting locally caught fish from him!) with honey and soy sauce. Then I stir fried a basics range bag of stir fry veggies and served the salmon on top along with some sesame seeds. A fairly simple meal very tasty.
For dessert I had the last of a tub of Total Greek yoghurt with frozen blueberries:
Always hits the spot! As I write this I am also just finishing off a minty hot chocolate made with just hot water, cocoa powder, mint flavouring and a few drops of stevia.
Thanks to Jenn for hosting the WIAW party! I found that I seemed to be more snacky than usual, I think some of my meals could have been more substantial, but generally I was quite pleased that I felt happy enough to listen to my body and eat. When I know it’s genuine hunger I think it’s actually important that I eat (un like boredom or emotional eating). As long as I’m eating healthy foods to meet that hunger, in reasonable portions it’s all good. Just a few things I’ve been learning and reaffirming in the first few days of doing the Super Conscious Living Programme!
What is your relationship with snacking? Mine used to be quite negative really, god forbid I would have more than a mid morning and mid afternoon snack, or even worse, snack all day long. I can even remember just allowing myself one snack a day. I can’t say I feel right when I need to snack constantly, as it can sometimes feel a bit binge like to me given my past eating habits, but generally I’m a pretty happy snacker! I’m more aware that my hunger will naturally fluctuate day to day. Do you have a favourite snack?
